Thanks for listening.
The story of my solo artist career began as a challenge by my wife. It was simple: take the energy you are squandering by complaining about the state of politics, and use it in a productive way to benefit our community. And that's it. That was my motivation to write songs for my first CD "Radical Heart."
Of course, my actions are subject to all the known and unknown laws of nature; The most powerful being; the more you give the more you receive. And although I have given away every penny that my music has generated, I have received ten fold of that in spiritual reward. My first CD led to the second and to the third, as well as to a radio show and a new world of community activism.
My music has been described in many ways and I'll leave that job to my listeners and critics.
I can say that that my writing intentionally addresses the subjects I consider to be the most critical, which are often the hardest for me personally. The ones we as a society struggle with, ignore, or try to sweep under the rug. Of course I pay a price for this. No air play for protest singers. (More accurately, no air play unless you pay for it - and it is very expensive.) Anyway I do not write songs to be commercially successful. Maybe someday I'll do that, but I think the world already has enough pop singers.
Living here in Nashville (music city) has been a wonderful and rich experience. With the most musical talent per capita of any city on the planet, there has been a lot to absorb and a lot to learn. The very best and the very worst of the music biz is here - both creatively and commercially. I know I have grown as an artist in ways I would not have if I didn't live here in Nashville.
I will continue as long as I can to make meaningful music. As an artist and a human being I know I will often fall short. But I will always try to stay true to the voice that lives inside me.
Feel free to drop me a note, air your views and add to my enlightenment.
I wish you well on your creative endeavors and encourage you to let the Freethinker in you live without fear.
